Pathways to Germany: Study and Apprenticeship

Young people today have many more options for studying in Germany beyond traditional exchange programs. Those interested in studying in Germany can learn about visa requirements, the application process, health insurance, and other logistics. We will also present pathways such as the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange vocational scholarship and new university programs for non-German speakers. For families with upper middle school to high school students. 

The event is free, but pre-registration is required.

9:00–9:50 a.m.  Caroline Blank—GAI Study in Germany: Requirements and New Options
Young people today have many more options for studying in Germany beyond traditional exchange programs. This portion of the program will include logistics related to visas, the application process, and resources for help, as well as new pathways for non-German speakers. It will also feature an introduction to non-traditional abroad alternatives. 

9:50–10:10 a.m.  Nacel Open Door—Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange
This program offers graduating high school seniors the opportunity to spend their 13th year abroad living with a German host family, participating in a training or school program, and gaining work experience through internships with German companies.

10:10–10:30 a.m.  Nils Martin—A Trip on the Career Bus
Nils Martin from the Goethe-Institut Washington DC will take participants on a virtual tour of the Goethe-Institut’s new “Career Bus”. This engaging experience will inform and inspire American youth to pursue educational opportunities in Germany.
