Kinderstube Laternenfest

Celebrate St. Martin’s Day with us!
St. Martin’s Day is a beloved tradition in German-speaking countries, especially celebrated in preschools and elementary schools with a charming lantern walk known as Laternenlauf. The celebration honors the story of Martin of Tours, a Roman soldier who showed compassion by sharing his cloak with a freezing beggar on a cold winter night. This heartwarming tale provides a meaningful way to teach children about kindness and generosity.
Join us for an evening of community and celebration! This event will include a re-enactment of the St. Martin story with a real horse, lantern songs, a festive Laternenlauf through the neighborhood, and time to gather around the campfire. Bring your own lantern or simply an electric tea light to light the way as we walk together. Registered guests will receive a free tea light. Walk-in guests will have access to a limited number of tea lights available for purchase.
This year, we’re also celebrating Kinderstube’s 20th anniversary and everyone is invited to enjoy cake in honor of this special milestone! After the walk, stick around for more festivities. A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, along with delicious food options.
Kinderstube will be selling Ruhland’s frozen strudels as a fundraiser at Laternenfest! You won’t want to miss this!
