Our Story

The Twin Cities Germanic Business Society was founded in 2024 by Philipp Burchartz, Michael Groebner, and Christian Weisenahl, who recognized a need for a dedicated network connecting Germanic business professionals and those with an interest in German business and culture. Through conversations and participation in business events throughout the Twin Cities, they envisioned a welcoming community where professionals could build relationships, share expertise, and foster collaboration.

Following the society’s inaugural event in 2024, interest grew quickly within Minnesota’s German-speaking business community. Today, the Twin Cities Germanic Business Society, in partnership with the Germanic-American Institute, hosts two to three signature business events each year, along with informal networking gatherings that encourage relationship-building throughout the year.

Each event features a presentation or panel discussion led by distinguished speakers selected by the society’s leadership, addressing topics relevant to today’s business community. To ensure an inclusive experience, presentations are conducted in English and are open to both German speakers and anyone interested in German-American business and cultural connections. Attendees represent a diverse cross-section of the community, including business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, students, and public officials.

Following Christian Weisenahl’s return to Germany in early 2026, the society continues under the leadership of Philipp Burchartz and Michael Groebner in partnership with the Germanic-American Institute, ensuring the organization’s continued growth and impact.
