Get into your Bavarian spirit at St. Paul Oktoberfest, where the Germanic-American Institute transforms its beautiful grounds into a lively festival filled with music, food, and culture. Inspired by the world-famous Munich Oktoberfest and perfectly timed for Minnesota’s gorgeous September weather, this unforgettable two-day celebration has something for everyone.

Enjoy authentic bratwurst and other German favorites, raise a stein of crisp German beer, dance to lively polka bands, and experience nonstop entertainment, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. Whether you’re embracing your German heritage or discovering Oktoberfest traditions for the first time, you’ll find plenty to celebrate.

Best of all, every brat, beer, and visit helps support the Germanic-American Institute’s mission. Festival proceeds fund language classes, cultural programs, and educational experiences that keep German heritage thriving in our community all year long.

Admission is free. Adults 21 and older may purchase a $10 wristband with a valid ID to enjoy beer and wine. Please note that pets are not permitted, though service animals are always welcome.

Parking and Accessibility

Free parking is available in the GAI parking lot as well as on the surrounding streets. The GAI Haus is not ADA-accessible and we do not have a permanent or temporary ramp available at this time. The GAI is currently under construction as we add our new ADA-accessible entrance and restroom at the back of the Haus, helping make our space welcoming and accessible for all. The new ADA-accessible lift will provide access to the first floor of the GAI Haus only. If you have any questions, please call our main office at 651.222.7027.

St. Paul Oktoberfest FAQ

  • Friday, September 12 from 4-10 PM, and Saturday, September 13 from 10 AM-10 PM.

  • On the grounds of the Germanic-American Institute, 301 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul MN 55102.

  • Oktoberfest is the Germanic-American Institute’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the wristbands and event help the GAI raise the necessary funds to support its cultural and language education programming all year long.

  • Wristbands are good for one day only (Friday or Saturday). If you plan to attend both days, you can purchase our pre-sale package, which includes a wristband good for both days.

  • Yes, glass mugs will be accepted and are strongly encouraged. And you will receive $1 off every beer purchase! (Please, no ceramic mugs.)

  • Pets are not allowed at St. Paul Oktoberfest. Service animals are always welcome.
