Our Community Statement
As a German American organization, the GAI carries a historical responsibility to be a warning voice for times when fear, hatred, and xenophobia take root in society. Read our commitment to being a welcome and inclusive community below.
The Germanic-American Institute is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive community space. We affirm the dignity and humanity of immigrants and people of all backgrounds, and we believe that cultural exchange, language, food, music, and shared traditions are strongest when everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Immigrants have long shaped Germanic history and culture, just as they continue to shape our communities today. At the GAI, ALL are welcome to participate in our classes, events, and gatherings.
Our doors are open to learners, families, and neighbors who wish to connect, celebrate culture, and build community together. We strive to foster an environment rooted in respect, care, and mutual understanding, and we stand against discrimination, harassment, and exclusion in all forms.
We have the right to deny I.C.E. access to private areas without a judicial warrant. We assert our constitutional rights, which apply to everyone in this country, regardless of immigration status, in this establishment.
