Holiday Open Haus
- This event has passed.
11 AM to 4 PM both days
Our annual Open Haus returns and everyone is welcome to experience some of the traditional aspects of German Christmas—Lebkuchen cookies baked by the GAI Damenklub, Haus brewed Glühwein (mulled wine), and seasonal goods for sale by German Specialty Imports, Guten Tag Haus, and other vendors. Guests can also learn about student exchange programs and study abroad opportunities.
For the kids, there will be craft activities in the Rathskeller and German model trains in the ballroom. On view in the ballroom will be a new GAI exhibit, Transatlantic Connections: Celebrating the German-American Partnership.
In Weihnachtsmarkt style, RJ’s Meats bratwurst, GAI Glühwein, Paulaner beer, Aki’s pretzels, Black Forest Inn cakes, and more will be sold and enjoyed outside. Join us for this festive weekend!
Saturday at noon, outdoors—Minnesänger choir sings German carols
Sunday from noon to 1 p.m. in the ballroom—German Storyteller Nicholas Palowski tells a holiday story for kids
NOTE: All visitors, staff, and volunteers are required to wear a face covering that securely covers their nose and mouth while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Bandanas and neck gaiters are not considered acceptable facial coverings.
Holiday Open Haus is free, with food, beverages, and goods for sale.
Volunteer at Holiday Open Haus!
We are looking for volunteers to be runners, cashiers, bartenders, help with set up and take down, the craft table, and in the kitchen. Volunteers receive a free meal and drink.
